Recently, to celebrate the show’s 20th season, there was a contest to create a new character for The Simpsons. Well, the winner has been announced as Peggy Black of Orange, Conn., and the character is Ricardo Bomba, who is quite the ladies’ man.
While the concept of a womanizing male character has been done on The Simpsons before (Life on the Fast Lane, anyone?), it hasn’t been done with any regularity. This could be the case of The Simpsons stealing from the Family Guy character of Glenn Quagmire (although likely with more taste). However, the concept of the ladies’ man has been around since Casanova himself so I don’t think it actually qualifies as a theft.
With a show like The Simpsons, it’s always tough to find new concepts and new characters. The popular theory is that television ideas can be recycled every seven years, but The Simpsons has been around for twenty. Let’s hope Ricardo Bomba can inject some life into the franchise.

That Daniel Radcliffe would lend his voice on “The Simpsons” next year has been confirmed by FOX. The British actor who is famous for his portrayal of Harry Potter will woo Lisa and spoof “Twilight” for the annual Halloween episode, “Treehouse of Horror XXI”.
Radcliffe’s role is Edmund, a kid vampire whose dad is none other than Dracula. He and Lisa fall in love with each other but their fathers are against the relationship and will try to break them up. The episode will air in either late October or early November like in the previous years.
Producer Al Jean told EW, “Daniel was very excited to do The Simpsons, and we kept trying to ask him for secrets from the upcoming Harry Potter movie until we realized that they were all in the books.”
“Treehouse of Horror” began in the second season and always contained horror, science fiction, or supernatural setting. Classic 1959 TV series “The Twilight Zone” has been lifted as the subject of several episodes.

Marge Simpson has made quite a headline earlier this month when the picture of her covering Playboy magazine was revealed. Now that the issue has come out, the pictures featured in the centerfold of the adult magazine are making their rounds, exposing her in sultry poses involving donuts and the shadow of her beloved husband, Homer.

Like other live models, “The Simpsons” character is required to do an interview and fill a data sheet. She is particularly annoyed when asked to mention her birth date and weight, writing down “nosy!” and “very nosy!”. Marge is also turned off by “slim men who work out and take care of their bodies”.
Marge’s Playboy appearance is part of the show’s 20th anniversary. On Sunday, October 18 at Barker hangar in Santa Monica, California, the voice cast, crew and even the Simpsons were out to celebrate the milestone. Producer Al Jean made time to comment on Marge’s Playboy cover, saying “Well, I talked to Marge today. She’s a little embarrassed. She wanted people to know the photo is Photoshopped. It’s really the body of Wilma [of 'The Flintstones'].”
“Star Trek” actor George Takei added, “It is hilarious. [The Playboy spread] is the kind of thing that makes ‘The Simpsons’ a perennial. It’s going to live long and prosper.”
However, not everybody is pleased with Marge shedding her clothes. American Family Association is projecting their protests to 7-Eleven for stocking the magazines while youngsters are in and out of the stores to get hot dogs or Slurpee. The magazines, in fact, have been wrapped in a way that those who don’t purchase can’t see the cover.
